Recreation

The Marsh includes over five miles of walking and biking paths that meander through the wetlands, beside Humboldt Bay, and around the oxidation ponds. The beautiful scenery makes the Marsh a perfect place to walk, jog, push strollers, bicycle, walk dogs on leash, take photographs, paint, or just relax. There is a boat launch and floating dock at the foot of South I Street, and fishing is allowed on Klopp Lake (license required).

Resources

So much to see at the Arcata Marsh! You might begin by following the path around the old Log Pond — download the Butcher’s Slough Self-Guided Trail brochure to show you the way. Or, bring the kids and go on a Redwood EdVentures quest. You’re sure to enjoy the roughly one-mile walk as much as they do. You can download a pdf of the Marsh Madness Quest brochure before you go. For a map of the entire Marsh, see the Visit the Arcata Marsh page and/or download a pdf of Arcata Marsh trails.
