DESCRIPTION:Arcata Community Center \nThere’s still time to register for field trips and other events that are part of this year’s Godwit Days Spring Migration Bird Festival (www.godwitdays.org). FOAM continues its long-time involvement in the festival with the following activities: \n·         Opening Reception (organizer). FOAM volunteers will be serving drinks (and washing the glasses!) starting at 5 pm on Friday\, April 19. \n·         Kids’ Nature Walk at the Marsh. FOAM Board member and CPH biology prof Mark Wilson will lead children (accompanied by responsible adults) on a bird and nature walk\, from 9:30 to 11:30 am on Saturday\, April 20. Each child will receive a goody bag. This event is free\, but does require pre-registration through the Godwit Days website. \n·         Student Bird Art Awards Ceremony. FOAM has been a co-sponsor of this contest for 21 years! Some 660 K-12 students from throughout Humboldt County entered a piece of artwork this year\, all of which will be displayed in the lobby and hallways of the Community Center starting on Friday\, April 19 @ 3 pm. Awards will be presented on Saturday\, April 20 starting at 11 am. \n·         Free Family Nature Crafts. FOAM will sponsor at least 4 tables of nature crafts during this event. Kids of all ages (with responsible adults) are invited to drop in (no preregistration required) between 10:30 am and 1 pm on Sunday\, April 21. The Cal Poly Natural History Museum\, the Arcata Office of the Bureau of Land Management\, and California State Parks also are participating. \n·         FOAM Booth in the Bird Fair. Stop by our table Friday-Sunday to buy a book\, join FOAM if you’re not already a member (and get your choice of a free embroidered logo patch or enamel pin)\, or just chat about the Marsh with one of our volunteers. Enter to win a handmade ceramic duck teapot!
