DESCRIPTION:Every last Tuesday of the month\, FOAM offers a free tour for those who love the Marsh and want to enjoy seeing it at a slower pace than regular Saturday tours. The walk will last 45 to 60 minutes across even\, level ground and is suitable to attendees of all ages who enjoy camaraderie and want to learn. DESCRIPTION:As Northern California’s fire season gets underway\, it’s time to learn about fire ecology from JEFF KANE\, director of Humboldt State’s Wildland Fire Lab\, at a free lecture\, sponsored by FOAM\, at the Arcata Marsh Interpretive Center. \nDr. Kane will present regional examples of native plants and their different strategies to persist in fire-prone ecosystems. He will also explain how changes in fire regimes due to past land management and current climate change issues pose challenges to many Northern California ecosystems.
