FOAM Family Nature Crafts at Godwit Days

Join Friends of the Arcata Marsh for free drop-in family nature craft activities at the Arcata Marsh Interpretive Center, 569 South G Street. Possible activities include putting together wooden bird calls, decorating bird or otter masks, making Marsh critter ornaments (mallard, marsh wren, tree frog, river otter), coloring owl toilet paper tubes or rocks, and creating bird hats. All children must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Masks are strongly recommended but not required inside the building, regardless of COVID…

Arcata Marsh Clean-up

Celebrate Earth Day by participating in Humboldt Pet Supply’s Marsh clean-up. Come by HPS, located at 145 G Street, on Friday to pick up supplies, then walk the Marsh at your leisure, picking up waste. Bring everything back to HPS by 4 pm to be weighed. Birding & Biking the Arcata Bottoms

 April 24 Redwood Region Audubon Society is sponsoring a different type of field trip this Sunday between 8:30 and 11 am. Join Cal Poly Humboldt ornithology lecturer Sean Mahoney with your bike and binoculars as he navigates the flat roads in the Arcata Bottoms off Samoa Boulevard. You will stop frequently to check out the grassland species that call the Bottoms home, including blackbirds, egrets, herons, and often raptors such as kites and hawks.
