Lantern Floating Ceremony

The City of Arcata co-hosts the Lantern Floating Ceremony on Klopp Lake

The 34th Annual Arcata Lantern Floating Ceremony on Saturday, August 13, 2016

9am – 1:30pm – Lantern Making at the Arcata Farmer’s Market – Tables will be set up and there will be supplies.

7:00pm – People will gather at the Arcata Marsh & Wildlife Sanctuary by Klopp Lake at the This event is an opportunity to offer spiritual consolation for people we miss, departed loved ones, ancestors, cultures and all we hold dear.

This event is also a memorial for all those effected by the WWII bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, to bring awareness to the dangers of nuclear proliferation, and to advocate for peace and environmental sustainability.end of South I Street.


Access by shuttle, walking and bicycle! There will be a shuttle from I & Samoa and the Arcata Plaza begining at 6pm. Only handicap parking on site.

Lantern Floating is at Sunset. Mayor Paul Pitino will be presiding. The Raging Grannies will be singing songs.

This is a free event!
All are invited to attend.
